I've known Yolanda for over 20 years and consider her my friend. She's always been an ally and voice for all ethnicities and backgrounds, the gifted, privileged, underserved, and the less able. We share values of community service, servant leadership, educational excellence, integrity and kindness. I believe Yolanda has led the school board (especially during recent contentious times) with professionalism, courage, fairness and common sense with no other agenda other than our kids. Her consistent attendance at events all over our county, from AmeriCorps Seniors, to African American Read In's, Kindness Initiatives, Urban League, Lulac, and etc. give her a unique perspective; as she talks, listens and gains community input to help her guide her actions. Retaining Yolanda, will provide Board continuity, as they begin working with the new Superintendent who will bring guidance to provide academic excellence for all kids in our schools, not just the few.

Yolanda Adams has demonstrated over the years the kind of courage to do the right thing for the students and staff, no matter the pressure, to do the hard work required, especially as president, without complaint and to effectively represent the grand mix within the changing population of Kenosha. In my own 40 years of experience as teacher, principal, curriculum director and superintendent, I have not seen a better or more loyal and effective school board member than Yolanda Santos Adams. I have worked with Yolanda Santos Adams on the school Board since she was appointed in 2019. It was no surprise to me that she won her election the next year and was the top vote getter. She has twice been elected by her peers on the board to the position of President. I admire her calmness and professionalism in the face of difficult situations. I have seen the hours of work that she puts in for the District and the children of Kenosha. Thank you, Yolanda for your hard work. We need you to continue leading us forward.
